An autoclave is an apparatus designed to carry out various processes under heat and pressure above atmospheric pressure. Autoclaves are used in a variety of industries, including the chemical, hydrometallurgical, medical and food industries. Autoclaves are particularly important in the food industry for sterilisation, pasteurisation of food (including canned food) and cooking.
How the autoclave works: The preheating of the sterilising water in the upper reservoir provides a heat source for sterilisation. The rising temperature of the heated water quickly fills the sterilisation vessel and the initial temperature rises rapidly. Sterilisation is carried out using saturated steam, which ensures stable heat distribution. The cooling system uses cooling water that is introduced into the retort to directly cool the food. Three types of control systems are available: manual, semi-automatic and automatic PLC control.
